Yes. It would make my life complete!
Comments: My great great grandmother's name was Marion Jane Hogarth. She married Joseph Harrison, a silversmith and they lived in Glasgow around the mid 1800s. Any info gratefully received. Family history is so interesting and generally the dead relatives do not cause as many problems as the living ones.

Comments: Heya, was just searching my family line on ask.com to see if I could get any closer to finding out who my ancestors and relatives are. Apparently a Hoggarth member of the family married a Kirkbride, so just wondered could any of you be one of my relatives? I am the son of Leslie Kirkbride, and just wondered if anyone knows my dad or if I'm related to any of you in anyway. Well get back to me, and thanks.

Comments: I was born in Kingston (Napanee) Ont., Canada, in 1930. My father, Edgar Creighton Hogarth, was born in the Utica, Ont., area in 1900, as was his father, Walter, in about 1875.

I understand my original Hogarth (Hoggarth?) ancester came to the Scarborough (Toronto) area about 1831 as a widow with her seven sons from the Newcastle/Northumberland area of England to join her maiden Washington family. This family subsequently settled in the Solina, Ont., area.

Of the seven sons - John, George, William, Henry, Daniel, Stephen and Septimus - only Daniel and Stephen remained in Solina and John and George in the Whitby and Bowmanville Ontario areas.

I believe my ancestor moved 30 miles west of Solina, to the Utica area north of Whitby, and lost touch with the rest of the family. This story is recounted in the book "A Place Called Solina" by Marguerite Fraser 1975, Maracle Press, Oshawa, Ont. Does anyone know anything more about these seven sons - the ancestors of most of the Hogarths in Canada?

Comments: Hi,

I have nothing to do with the Hogarth family, other than the house I now live in was owned by either a Hugh or Peter Hogarth and we have had an enquiry with regards to a lady whose father was the gardener. Does anybody have any information that might help with our investigation?

Thank you and regards,

David

Comments: Hi there. I've been tracing my Hogarths for some time and have them back to 1841 in Hartlepool, Co.Durham. They'd moved there from Corbridge in the 1830's. So far I haven't moved them any further back but I know there were several brothers. Sadly although there are quite a number of their descendants, I haven't found any one looking for them as well. Maybe I'll get lucky here!

Comments: Hello to one and all. I've just started the whole tree thing and have unearthed a whole heap of Hogarth/Hoggarths in Ainstable, Cumberland. My maternal grandmother was Alberta Hogarth (Hoggarth in the 1901 census) but I think there may be two separate strands. Can anyone throw any light on the Ainstable branch? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Comments: Hi, I'm Richard, son of Thomas and grandson of William Donaldson Hogarth of Newsham, Blyth, Northumberland, England.

Family rumour has it that that my grandfather William Donaldson's mother i.e. my great grandmother, had another son who was taken to the USA.

During the Second World War, parcels were sent from the USA to my father and his sister Anne who were both young at the time.

Anyone know of the mystery donor ?

Regards

Richard

Comments: I have been in touch a couple of years of years ago. Good to read the death cert. of Luke Hoggarth.

Just to remind everyone, I am from Luke's line through his daughter, Mary Anne, who married Thomas Maidens who came to live in Egton Bridge, working in the Iron stone mine at Glaisdale. Thomas became pit deputy at a mine in Swainby and then moved to Brotton. If there are any of the Maidens family reading this I would be pleased to hear from them.

Comments: I live in Lancashire but trace my branch of the Hoggarth family back to Westmoreland in the mid 1800's, before moving to Lancashire via Yorkshire.

My Great Grandfather Thomas Wm Hoggarth was born in Slaidburn, Yorkshire in 1869, then moved to Clitheroe and eventually Nelson.

My Great Grandfather had a brother James born around 1866 in Hareholme, Westmoreland.

If anyone has any information on any these people, I would love to hear from you.

Harold

Comments: Hi, I am a Hogarth of the New Zealand variety who has migrated to faraway shores. I am interested to find some of my family on my father's side whom: 1. I've never met; or, 2. was too young to remember.

I'm 30 years old and originally from Rangiora and later Gisborne, NZ. I'd be interested to see who comes out of the woodwork :-)

Comments: I am wondering if I am related to the Hogarths too and not just the Hoggarths with two "g's". I know there is a famous painter by the name of William Hoggarth who is from Holland. Am I/we related to him in some way? This last name is not very common - especially where I live. Every Hoggarth I meet I am related to. My father has 10 siblings, so I don't know a lot of my cousins and 2nd cousins. Email me if you have any thoughts!

Thanks,
Megan

He appears on Bryan Hoggarth's web site in Memorial Inscriptions for Bilsdale Midcable and also on Mave Calvert's Tree (family tree of Stephen Brittain).

Would like to hear from any others of this branch, or from any other with Bilsdale Hoggart(h)s.
