Comments: Although I'm now in Hartlepool, I was born in York and brought / dragged up with my six (much older) siblings in Rufforth. Comments: Hi, I got my name from my grandfather who migrated here sometime around the middle of the 20th Century from England. I don't know anything about where he came from in England - he died when I was 3 months old. Me and my immediate family are the only Hoggarths with two 'g's in the phone book here. I was told that the second 'g' came into my family by someone mistakenly spelling the name on a birth certificate once upon a time. I know it is pronounced Ho-Garth, but almost everyone I meet for the first time pronounces it Hogg-Arth. It is so annoying! Yay for Hog*s!
